Julia Timoshenkoto: the website of the party “Fatherland”
The leader of the party “Batkivshchyna” and presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko declared intention to return the Crimea to Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the party.
According to Tymoshenko, Ukraine needs to return “occupied Crimea and Donbass”. She offered “to engage Russia as a state-occupier to liability and indemnify the losses incurred by the country.”
Tymoshenko also noted the importance of Ukraine’s accession to NATO. In her opinion, the country ought to join the Alliance simultaneously with the conclusion of the Budapest Memorandum. “Then we could be guaranteed to be protected for many years to come. It was the only real guarantee,” she said, adding that the new government will seek to join NATO as quickly as possible.
Budapest Memorandum was signed on 5 December 1994, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, the USA and the UK. It guarantees compliance with the provisions of the CSCE Final act, UN Charter and the Treaty on the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons against Ukraine as non-nuclear weapon state party.
Presidential elections in Ukraine on 31 March. They registered 44 candidates, which was a record. According to the survey, the current President Petro Poroshenko is the most popular of them overtake him, Yulia Tymoshenko and Vladimir Zelensky.
