The international coalition headed by the USA attacked a mosque in Syria, which was used by the militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia). Reported by the Associated Press.

The blow was struck on February 11. It is noted that the mosque was used by terrorists as a command center. From there it was passed on the orders and set off bombs in the cars.

The Deputy commander of the coalition forces of British major General Christopher Hyk said that the building lost the status of protected heritage. According to him, it happened at a time when the militants deliberately decided to use the mosque as a command post.

Indicates that the blow struck in support of the “Democratic forces of Syria” (DSS) — the Union of Kurdish and Arab groups. They are currently trying to dislodge the militants from their last remaining stronghold in the West of the country, near the border with Iraq.

At the end of October 2018 the international coalition led by the US also destroyed the mosque in an airstrike in Syria. The reason was the same: the military pointed out that the building was the headquarters of the “Islamic state”.
