The world’s major arms exporters in the period from 2014 to 2018 remain Russia and the United States. This is stated in the report of the Stockholm international Institute for peace studies (SIPRI), which leads TASS.
The document notes that the global volume of arms sales increased compared to the previous five-year period by 7.8 percent. The share of the United States, Russia, China, France and Germany accounted for 75 percent of the total. The USA and Russia combined is 57 percent.
The volume of arms sales of the Russian Federation decreased by 17 percent. The reduction of Russian exports is partly due to a decline in shipments to India and Venezuela — for a long time this country was one of the main buyers of Russian weapons. In the past five years Russia has supplied major weapons in 48 countries.
Earlier in November 2018, it was reported that the portfolio of orders of “Rosoboronexport” exceed $ 50 billion. It was noted that in 2018 carried out the supply of arms and military equipment in more than 40 countries, signed more than 1,100 contract documents for the sum of about $ 19 billion, which is almost a quarter more than the whole of last year.
