A power outage in most of the States of Venezuela was the result of sabotage of the West. This was stated at a briefing on Friday, March 15, the representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, reports TASS. Stream available on the website of the Ministry in Facebook.
The diplomat noted that the shutdown — a disaster that cost the Venezuelans including lives. “According to the legitimate government headed by President [of Venezuela Nicolas] Maduro, and also according to other credible sources, the electricity sector of Venezuela was attacked from abroad”, — she said.
Zakharova added that Russia is ready to consider the appeal of Caracas on this issue, if available.
Foreign Ministry spokesman also indicated that US intelligence agencies establish contacts with smugglers, drug traffickers and those involved in drug trafficking in Venezuela. According to her, this way the Americans seek to “information on illegal cross-border crossings.”
Electricity supply was restored in almost all the regions of Venezuela on March 12. Interruptions occurred in 23 of 24 States. The head of state called it “electric war” with the United States. The national energy company in the country explained what happened a diversion on hydroelectric power station Guri in Bolivar state.
The situation in Venezuela escalated on 23 January, when the background of mass protests, the opposition leader Juan Guido declared himself interim President. It is recognized by the US, several countries in Latin America and Europe. Russia has supported Maduro.
