Promising reusable manned spacecraft will get a new “male name”, reports TASS on Friday, March 15.
“Invented”, — said the Director of the Russian space Agency, Dmitry Rogozin, at a press conference after docking of “Soyuz MS-12” with the International space station (ISS).
What Rogozin did not elaborate.
Earlier, according to the Agency, the head of Roscosmos said that it should be male and not female name, without explaining the reasons to the fact.
In the future the Federation is designed to replace the manned spacecraft series “Soyuz” and cargo “Progress” . Name for advanced space ship for the first time in history tried to determine through the ballot box in December 2015. Then the first place by a wide margin got the “Gagarin” (10.4 thousand votes), and the second Vector (4.9 per thousand).
“Federation” (3.6 thousand) took third place, however, this is the name proposed by the inhabitant of Kemerovo Andrey Smokotina, and it was approved.
