The US imposed sanctions against eight Russian companies, said the office for foreign assets control of the U.S. Treasury, according to RIA Novosti.
Among fall under the restrictions of the companies four companies from the Crimea, two from St. Petersburg and one from the Republic of Tatarstan and the Yaroslavl region. They are accused of taking property from Ukraine for the provision of services to the Russian military.
Indicates that the Zelenogorsk shipbuilding plant named after Gorky produces missile ships that supplies the Russian Navy. The plant cooperated with the Crimean engineering and design Bureau “Sudokompozit”, also came under sanctions.
Two St. Petersburg companies — “Oceanpribor”, the JSC “Zvezda” — participated in the project of the Crimean shipbuilding plant “Sea”, previously included in the sanctions lists. “Oceanpribor” is also engaged in manufacture of sonar equipment.
Under the restrictive measures also included the Crimean company “Fiolent” for the production of equipment for the Russian armed forces, “SK Console-Stroy LTD” and “New projects” for oil and gas on the Peninsula.
The Crimea, which appeared after the collapse of the Soviet Union as part of an independent Ukraine, was again annexed to Russia in March 2014. Kiev, the EU and the United States consider Moscow’s annexation of the Peninsula.
