The official representative of the European broadcasting Union (EBU) David Goodman spoke about the sanctions against Ukraine for the participation in “Eurovision-2019”. His words TASS reports.
Answering the question about the penalties for refusal of Ukraine to participate in the song contest, Goodman noted that currently, the Israeli Corporation for public broadcasting focuses on the organization of the event. “Any further decision regarding the care of the National public broadcasting company of Ukraine (NOTE) will be made after the event,” he explained. Also a representative of the EBU expressed hope that the country will perform at the contest.
On 27 February the information appeared that Ukraine will not participate in “Eurovision”. This decision was taken after the finalists of the national qualifying round have refused to represent the country at the event. Among them — the singer Maruv and group Freedom Jazz and Kazka. In addition, the NOTE has described the relationship of the Ukrainian artists of the Russian show-business as a system problem of the Ukrainian music industry.
The contest will be held 14 to 18 may in tel Aviv. Russia will be represented by Sergey Lazarev with the song Scream.
