The first launch from the East, Russia’s first civilian spaceport, was held in April 2016 at the second attempt in the presence of President Vladimir Putin. The construction of the facility began in 2012, was accompanied by corruption scandals and strikes by workers due to wage delays. By may 2016 on the construction of buildings there has been spent more than 84 billion rubles.
