Igor Podporin which has damaged a painting by Ilya Repin “Ivan the terrible and his son Ivan” in the Tretyakov gallery, explained his actions while testifying in court. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The defendant stated that to ruin a work of art made him a bad impression from the roadway. “I saw this picture reacted, somehow it affected me. Unpleasant experience, it was so that I stand hurt her,” admitted Podporin.
He believes that the king was implicated in the death of his son. In addition, Podporina confused by the blood on the painting: “There’s blood… I’ve seen icons with Ivan the Terrible, and still the king was Russia.” However, the historical unreliability of the other paintings did not arouse male desires to spoil them.
Earlier in the spring it became known that the Tretyakov gallery intends to collect 20 million rubles Igor podporin for damage to the painting.
The incident occurred on may 25, 2018. Podporin burst into the hall Ilya Repin and hit the metal bar on the protective glazing work “Ivan the terrible and his son Ivan”, with the result that the canvas was damaged in three places, the author’s frame was also injured.
