Specialists insurance Agency Insurance Quotes conducted a study and found out what place in the airport can be considered the most contaminated. The results of the study publishes the Daily Express.
For this, the experts measured the amount of harmful micro-organisms per square inch. It turned out that most of the bacteria accumulates on the counters self check, because people constantly touch their screens with dirty hands. Each rack contains on average 253 857 bacteria and fungal cells per square inch.
On the second place experts have put benches and chairs, on which sit the passengers awaiting the flight at the departure gate. There are an average harvested 21 thousand bacteria per square inch.
In third place were the button on the drinking fountains, where every square inch on the average may be 19 thousand bacteria.
In September 2018 the scientists of the Finnish National Institute of health and welfare proved the danger of staying in airports. The researchers took samples from surfaces that are often touched by passengers at Helsinki airport to identify the presence of harmful bacteria.
