Belarus is ready to cooperate with the European Union in the case that will take into account its national interests. With such statement during the meeting with Federal Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurtz was made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, reports “BelTA”.
“Not the center of Europe to remove from the close cooperation of the European Union with our country. We are ready for this cooperation, but you very rightly said, it is always necessary to take into account national interests,” — said the Belarusian leader Kurtz, thanking Vienna for the contribution to rapprochement of Belarus with the European Union.
Lukashenka also recalled that opposes the collapse of the EU or the weakening of this Association. “I proceed from the pragmatic point of view. The European Union is today one of the pillars of stability on our planet. And if this prop to pull out from under the common system, the system will be very difficult to hold on to the other pillars — the United States of America, China, India, Russia”, — he explained his position.
“The European Union must be preserved. Of course, Europe, the European Union needs to be updated, but in any case not in the direction of collapse,” — said the President of Belarus.
Two years ago, in March 2017, Lukashenko during the meeting with the Minister of foreign Affairs of Belgium Didier Reynders admitted that he is a supporter of a multipolar world and the preservation of the European Union. “The European Union is strong support for the planet, if it will disappear — to be trouble. So all your “brickcity” and the nationalist movement I do not perceive. Whatever it takes, the European Union must be preserved. (…) I support the European Union”, — explained his position the Belarusian leader.
