In the next six years of investment in the Russian economy in the Arctic will bring twice as much profit due to the demand for oil. It is reported TASS with reference to the representative of Russia in the Arctic Council Nicholas Korchunov.
According to him, Russia has the most ambitious economic program in the Arctic in the world. “Investment in the Russian economy [in the Arctic], up to 2025 may exceed 86 billion dollars,” he said, noting that this figure will continue to grow.
The investment program of Russia in Arctic regions can bring the economy around 210 billion dollars. Thus, according to Korshunova, on infrastructure development of the Arctic requires approximately one billion dollars.
Investments linked to the demand for minerals. As reported the Agency with reference to data of experts, the second half of the XXI century mining will move to the Arctic, and oil production there will be comparable to the volumes in the Persian Gulf.
Korchunov added that by 2030 the volume of Russian GDP in the Arctic could exceed $ 500 billion. “To the Arctic regions in the country accounts for about 10 percent of GDP and almost 20 percent of Russian exports,” he explained.
In February it was reported that the development of the Arctic will be engaged in a special Ministry for the Far East and the Arctic. The office is charged with development of state policy and legislative regulation in the Arctic region.
