The Russian currency was again under pressure amid new U.S. sanctions in connection with allegations of attempted murder of GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia. This is evidenced by trading on the Moscow exchange.
Half an hour of trading, the dollar rose by 65 cents, from 65,005 of the ruble as of 17:30 GMT to 65,6625 of the rouble to 18:10 PM. Currently, the currency rebounded slightly and is trading in the area of 65.50 rubles per dollar.
The Euro showed a similar trend, increasing from 73,01 to 73,6625 of the ruble. At the moment the European currency is trading around 73,50 ruble.
The ruble do not support even the high world prices for oil. May futures on Brent crude traded in the area 68,38 dollars per barrel.
On Friday evening, March 29, it became known that the US state Department coordinated with the Ministry of Finance a new package of anti-Russian sanctions in connection with the attempted murder Skrobala in British Salisbury. One source claims that the new sanctions will hit the banking sector of Russia.
