The government rejected the idea of mandatory installation of smart meters for gas. About this on air of “Russia 24” said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, reports TASS.
According to him, required for the implementation of this project the amount was too sensitive for citizens. “The government cannot take a decision without considering the interests of consumers”, — explained the official.
Kozak added that the government will wait until these counters are cheaper and the idea is not so onerous for the Russians.
“News” wrote in March, citing sent a letter to the government of energy that rates to consumers may include the cost of development and installation of the metering system of gas, with which it will be possible remote data transmission. The creation of this system was estimated at 385 billion rubles.
About the plans in Russia to introduce smart gas meters have become known in December. Then the cost of installing meters throughout Central Russia was estimated at 130 billion roubles, and the price of installation of one device in five thousand roubles.
