The Ministry of environment and regional development of Latvia passed the information on violations removed from office by the mayor of Riga Nile Ushakov in the General Prosecutor’s office and the Bureau on prevention and struggle against corruption. About it reports Delfi.
The Agency will assess whether the actions Ushakov signs of criminal offenses, in particular fraud and omissions of the officials, which led to serious consequences.
Ushakov added that starting in 2010, Riga city Council has expanded the categories of passengers who can use public transport for free or with significant discounts. He explained that expenditures for these services offset the city’s Parliament, or in the form of grants or in the form of investments in equity. He stressed that both of these forms allowed by law.
The decision to resign Ushakova appeared in the Friday, April 5, in the official Gazette. He was deprived of office for “non-compliance with statutory obligations and violation of regulations.” Ushakov is associated with corruption violations of the municipal enterprise Rigas satiksme (“the Riga message”, is responsible for transport) where he is a shareholder. The politician called his dismissal “illegal and unprofessional” and added that he would challenge it in court.
