The Ministry of environment took the initiative to make the Red book for far Eastern carnivorous whale that banned trapping in the world except Russia. About this TASS said the head of the Ministry Dmitry Kobylkin.

“No country in the world [except Russia] these types of does not catch and sell. It is of great public interest, and we certainly listen to the views of their citizens,” said the Minister, adding that the draft list of endangered animals will be sent for approval to Myselfas.

Kobylkin said that the Ministry will prepare a proposal to introduce a zero total allowable catch (TAC) on extraction of flesh-eating orcas. The official noted that we are not talking about a complete ban on catching whales will make exception for the indigenous peoples of the North and the Far East, who traditionally eat whale meat.

Earlier it was reported that Russian scientists intend to release into the wild contained in the “whale jail” orcas and belugas. For each animal, will develop an individual plan of rehabilitation and release. This year the authorities of Primorye was going to create a rehabilitation center for cetaceans in the Bay Middle, where the animals are now in captivity.
