It is expected that the law will come into force on 1 November 2019.

In the first reading the bill was adopted in February 2019. A few weeks ago it became known that the implementation of such a law will cost the budget 30 billion rubles.

The legislative initiative was put forward at the end of 2018 MP Andrei Lugovoi, as well as senators Lyudmila Bokova and Andrew Clisham. She was a reprisal for the American strategy for national cyber security (in Russia it was named among the countries that organize the attacks).
