In December last year, the President of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno assured Assange that the British government will not send him to a country where his life will be at stake.

Assange more than six years lived in the Embassy of Ecuador in the British capital. He asked for asylum in 2012 fearing extradition to Sweden, where he was charged with rape. In may 2017, the investigation was terminated, but Stockholm can give a man the US, where he could face the death penalty for publishing secret Pentagon papers.
