The presidential candidate of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky hopes to hold a pre-election debate with his rival on the second round, the incumbent head of state Petro Poroshenko on April 19 at the stadium “Olympic”. On Sunday, April 14, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
“Let’s hope that he still might get a chance to go. If not, we think Peter really wants to get away from this debate,” — said the speaker staff Zelensky on the issues of the election campaign Dmitry Razumkov.
According to him, 14 April stadium hosted the campaign rally of the incumbent, and at that day no debates were planned.
“We do not participate in campaign rallies is still the acting guarantor of the Constitution”, — he stressed.
Zelensky, the representative also stressed that the law did not provide for debate in the Public space of television, according to a decree of the CEC of Ukraine.
Earlier on Sunday it was reported that acting President of Ukraine arrived at the sports complex on the debate with Zelensky and held them without an opponent.
In the administration of the “Olympic” noted that he had received various inquiries about the date of debate between members of the presidential race, and candidates, apparently, did not agree. Representative Poroshenko asked to book the complex for events, on 14 April, and the headquarters Zelensky — on April 19.
April 7, Ukraine’s Central election Commission announced results of the first round of presidential elections. By results of processing of electronic and paper protocols Zelensky received 30,24 percent of the vote, Poroshenko — by 15.95 percent. The second round will be held on April 21.
