Some relics have been saved from the Notre-Dame Cathedral, where the fire started. This was announced by rector Patrick Chauvet, the TV channel BFM.

The head of the fire brigade said that the fire extinguishing and rescue of the relics will continue all night, RIA Novosti reported. At the moment a fire destroyed two thirds of the roof and the roof caved in, the steeple and clock of the Cathedral.

The state Fund for preservation of cultural heritage of France announced its intention to launch a nationwide fundraiser for the restoration of the Cathedral, according to Le Parisien. According to experts, the restoration may take from five to several decades.
