In Russia started the second phase of the transition of television to digital broadcasting. In the 20 regions was limited to the distribution of the analog signal. This is stated in the message on the website of FSUE “Russian television and broadcasting network” engaged in the distribution of the signal.
From analog to digital television began in Moscow, the Moscow region, the Amur, Ivanovo, Kemerovo, Kirov, Kostroma, Kurgan, Lipetsk, Novgorod, Sakhalin, Tyumen, Yaroslavl region. Analog are also disabled in Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kalmykia, Udmurtia, Chuvashia and Mordovia, as well as in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district.
The digital signal is available only to those Russians who support the TV format DVB-T2. To watch 20 free channels, for older TVs need to purchase a special digital console. In February, the Deputy Minister warned about the scams, which together with the consoles are trying to impose on the audience the service contracts pay-cable television.
At the end of 2018, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev urged the regional government to compensate low-income citizens purchase costs of set-top boxes, as well as help with their connection.
The assessment requested by the Ministry of industry and trade, in the process of transition from analogue to digital broadcasting without a television can stay up to 33.7 million households. That’s the number of TV sets in Russia, by estimates of representatives of the industry, are unable to receive the digital signal.
According to estimates of the Ministry of digital development, communications and mass media, five people out of a hundred in Russia made a conscious decision to abandon the television.
