The cost of the Russian project of the global infocommunication multipurpose satellite system “Live” grew by almost two times, said RBC representative of “Roscosmos”.
“Business plan and feasibility study of the project involve extra-budgetary investment funds in the amount of about 533,6 billion rubles,” — said the source.
According to him, the project “Ether” was clarified in the third quarter of 2018, and those wishing to invest in him at the moment was not. The representative noted that the Corporation to the updated program “did not give a positive opinion”.
The newspaper reminds that the “Ether” should be part of “Spheres”, which should include not only existing projects, in particular, the navigation system GLONASS, TV broadcasting “Express” and the system of personal satellite communications “Messenger”, but planned.
In June 2018, it was reported that the global satellite system “Scope”, involving the deployment of about 600 satellites, is a modified version of the previously announced “Roscosmos” project communication systems “Broadcast”.
In the same month, acting first Deputy General Director of “Rosatom” Nikolai Sevastyanov said that all 600 prospective spacecraft of the Russian global satellite system, “Sphere” can be run heavy rocket “Angara-A5”, developed the “Center Khrunichev” — the most problematic enterprise of the Corporation, the debt burden which is estimated at 84 billion rubles.
In may of the same year, Roskosmos, announced the project “Ether”, designed to compete with similar Western systems, OneWeb and Starlink. Then the Deputy Director General for strategic development and innovation “Russian space systems” (RKS) Evgeny Nesterov noted that the program for deployment by 2025 constellation of 288 satellites with orbit altitude of 870 kilometers, will require an investment of 300 billion rubles.
