Russian bobsleistku Nadezhda Sergeeva has filed a lawsuit against the Federal medical-biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, because it gave her the banned drug. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.
Sergeyev said that he had received from FMBA permitted additive methionine, which turned out to Trimetazidine. According to her, on the packaging supplements was mentioned about the content of the prohibited drug. The fact that there is doping in methionine was confirmed by two laboratories in Belarus and Austria.
Bobsleistku has filed a lawsuit against the FMBA and the manufacturer of methionine. It requires compensation for damage.
The head of the FMBA Vladimir Uiba in an interview with TASS said that he does not consider himself guilty. “The fact that there was a banned substance — it was a revelation for all of us there attracted. But we are the aggrieved party not less than an athlete”, he added.
24 Feb 2018 Sergeyeva was disqualified by the court of arbitration for Sports (CAS) for violation of anti-doping rules and the results from the Olympic games in 2018 has been cancelled. Paired with Anastasia Kochergova the athlete took 12th place in the crew competitions beans-deuces.
In October 2018 CAS overturned the suspension of the athletes, but continued the trial.
