A member of the Duma Committee on transport and construction Maksim Suraev has criticized the idea of creating a pay-intersections and noted that no legislative initiatives on this issue yet. Reports radio station “Moscow speaking”.
“My first reaction is negative. Read the justification that will be optimized. And that is to build the interchange to remove traffic lights to improve the same intersections and to expand the road, build alternative bypass routes, and so forth,” — said the MP. He described the initiative by the phrase “the best remedy for headache — a guillotine.”
Suraev also noted that this news is more like background noise and no legislative initiatives or proposals to the state Duma did not arrive yet.
Earlier, on April 16, it was reported that in Russia in 2020 it is planned to introduce a fee for motorists for crossing the intersection or road segment at a certain time. This experiment should help solve the problem of traffic jams, considered in the national technology initiative “Avtonet”. Tolls at the intersection will force motorists to carefully plan routes that will contribute to the reduction of traffic in the narrow places of the road at 10-20 percent.
According to RIA Novosti, the experiment with the introduction of pay-intersections can take place in one of the Russian regions. Among the possible called Lipetsk, Nizhniy Novgorod and Ulyanovsk.
