Over the past few years has significantly increased the number of Russians suffering from obesity. In 2011 among the adult population aged 18 years and older the incidence of obesity has increased almost two times. It is reported RIA Novosti with reference to Deputy head of Rospotrebnadzor Irina Bragin.
“We proceeded from the fact that in Russia, 14 percent of men and 26% of women are overweight,” said Bragin.
According to her, among the older generation, the proportion of overweight people than among young people. There are also increasing numbers of childhood obesity.
The Deputy Minister noted that, according to the results of joint monitoring of the Federal service and academic Institute of nutrition, the diet of the citizens too much fat and not enough protein. Such a diet may cause diabetes and problems with the cardiovascular system.
Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor stated that more than half of deaths in Russia are linked to the disease occurred on the background of malnutrition. In December, the Minister of health Veronika Skvortsova said that the irrational choice of products contributes to the growth of obesity among citizens.
