Russian Besovets airport in Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia, was renamed into Petrozavodsk airport. This was reported on the official portal of the Federal service for state registration, cadastre and cartography (Rosreestr).

Simultaneously with Petrozavodsk new titles received two of the airport. “In Krasnoyarsk region international airport Krasnoyarsk (Yemelyanovo) was renamed to the international airport of Krasnoyarsk. In the Republic of Ingushetia Magas airport (Sleptsovskaya) was renamed to airport Magas”, — stated in the message of Federal registration service.

As writes “Interfax”, previously the question of choosing a new name for the airport of Petrozavodsk was raised by the Minister of internal Affairs of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltsev and security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev. They felt that the former name of the airport associated with otherworldly forces.

However, local residents had objected to that name. According to the results of last year’s survey, the majority ( 36.9 percent) were in favor of preserving the old names, the second place was Petrozavodsk (19.6 percent).

In November of 2018 took place renaming of a private airfield in the Omsk region in honor of the leader of group “Civil defence” Egor Letov. At the airport, was installed the bas-relief in honor of the musician and held a rock festival.
