The lawyers of Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska will create a Fund for the payment of journalists who will investigate the reasons for getting businessman under U.S. sanctions. The size of the Fund will amount to 600 thousand dollars, writes the Financial Times, citing sources.
The Fund intend to establish already “this week”. Deripaska in an interview also said that you entered the U.S. sanctions are based on lies. According to him, for the imposition of sanctions was not presented “no evidence, no reason”.
In mid-March, Deripaska has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Treasury because of the sanctions imposed against him. The businessman said about the bias of the American authorities and the violation of basic principles of U.S. law, particularly the presumption of innocence. According to the entrepreneur, because of the restrictions he has lost more than seven billion dollars.
The us Treasury Department imposed sanctions against Deripaska and eight of his assets in April 2018. In January 2019, the restrictions against En+, RUSAL and EuroSibEnergo were dropped due to the reached with the U.S. Treasury agreement. However, the rest of the company and billionaire remained under sanctions.
