Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska said that he entered against us sanctions based on lies. He told this in an interview with the Financial Times.
“Congress wants more blood, but Congress has no idea what is happening in Russia, or anywhere else in the world. They were driven by a vendetta, revenge,” he said. The businessman added that for the imposition of sanctions was not presented “no facts, no reason, just a dirty lie”.
Deripaska noted that the American Parliament have the wrong impression, as if the harm to private business in Russia will solve some problem. “Quite the opposite”, — he concluded.
On 15 March it became known that Oleg Deripaska has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Minister of Finance Steven Mnuchin because of the sanctions that were imposed against him. The businessman insists that has come under unjust and unlawful persecution by the authorities, which have lost more than seven billion dollars.
In April 2018, the U.S. Treasury imposed sanctions against 14 Russian companies, including Basic element, En+, and RUSAL of Oleg Deripaska. The sanctions have limited funding and cooperation with organisations, and included the freezing of assets on U.S. territory.
