Engineers Russian road research Institute came to the conclusion that the width of lanes on motorways may be different. It is reported RT with reference to the report of the road research Institute.
Engineers have observed the trajectory of the cars on the highway M9 “Baltic” and the Moscow ring road (MKAD). In the study, experts have studied the space between moving vehicles and the average width of passenger cars and concluded that on highways with six or more lanes width of extreme left lanes can be narrowed from 3.75 to 3.5 meters. The speed and security does not change.
It is assumed that narrowing of the left strip will allow you to save a lot of money in the construction and expansion of the network of expressways in the country.
Also the report shows that the width of the extreme right-wing bands, which mostly drive commercial vehicles need to be left unchanged at 3.75 meters.
In March it was reported the cost of a new ring road of Moscow — 630 billion rubles. The ring will consist of four lines and will be located between TTK and MKAD. Under the plan the road will be built by the end of 2019.
In December 2018 it was reported that allowed the speed limit on some Federal roads can increase. As explained in the Agency, this decision will help to reduce accidents.
