A bill to ban the advertising of infant formulas as breast milk substitutes, earlier introduced in the state Duma, was developed in connection with the refusal of Russian mothers from breastfeeding. This was stated by member of the Federation Council Committee on social policy Tatiana Kusano, reports “FederalPress”.
She noted that the technical progress is urging women to abandon breast-feeding, although for the kid there’s nothing more nutritious breast milk. Kusano, stressed that women have to be persuaded that those fed newborn without using formula.
“Breastfeeding contributes to the health of the mother, decreased risk of cancer of the breast”, she added.
The initiative to ban advertising of infant formula was submitted to the Duma in early April. The document is available in an electronic database. According to Cosico, the proposed amendments could enter into force on 1 January 2020.
Earlier online project for parents “Leider” released a video in which Russian girls speculate, is it acceptable to breastfeed in public places, and came to the conclusion that this is a natural process.
In March, the Commissioner for human rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova has shared his thoughts on the causes of impunity manifestations of harassment and their vision of the main purpose of women. “Whatever work might be performed by a woman, what the social status it would neither acquire its main purpose is that she is a woman, she gives the world life,” she said.
