Russia can supply oil to Europe, even in the case of overlapping authorities of Belarus section of the Druzhba pipeline, said the Minister of energy Alexander Novak, quoted by TASS.
“I believe that the option of ceiling pipes is force majeure, which, in my opinion, completely unreasonable, we’re not even considering this option. Of course, we have reserves for other lines of oil supply and increase in transportation volumes through the ports,” said Novak.
However, the Minister considers it appropriate to continue work under the current agreements and contracts.
On 11 April President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the authorities can, if necessary, to cover its section of the Druzhba pipeline for repair, despite the fact that it is transported to Europe Russian oil. The statement was a response to the recent ban on the import to Russia of Belarusian apples and pears because of the frequent cases of delivery of goods from countries hit by retaliatory food embargo.
Later, the representatives of the Russian “Transneft” that supports the Russian section of the pipeline, stated that he is in a satisfactory condition and not in need of repair. However, if work is required, the company is ready to provide its expertise.
