Scientists at Harvard University have come to the conclusion that the celestial body entered the Earth’s atmosphere in January 2014, came from another planetary system located somewhere in the disk of the milky Way. This publication reports Science Alert.
The researchers analyzed the occurrence of meteors recorded in the database of the Center for the study of near-earth objects NASA (CNEOS). They found information about the object, which flew to the Ground with a speed of 60 kilometers per second, passing by the Sun. Scientists believe that the diameter of a celestial body reached about a meter, as it burned up in the atmosphere and not reached the surface.
Experts also calculated the trajectory of the object based on the speed and determined that he was not of the gravity associated with the Sun, that is not moving in an orbit around it. He was moving so fast that passed the pull of the star, which had almost no effect on his path. This is possible only if the celestial body originated far beyond the Solar system.
