The Tajik authorities twice raised the tariffs for mobile communications and mobile Internet, are concerned about the health of citizens. On this portal ASIA-Plus said the Deputy Chairman of the communication Service of the country Ilkhom Atoev.
“With the increase in prices on the Internet people will correctly use them. Less will to play and spoil his sight, will protect their health (…). Pay attention to the youth — heads down, always sit in the Internet,” said Atoev.
The official also expressed the hope that people will start to read books and to communicate with each other.
New tariffs for mobile communications and mobile Internet in Tajikistan began to operate from April 18. According to the portal, the prices have almost doubled: if used for 1 Gigabyte the user paid 30-35 somoni ($3.5), now cost the same amount of Internet reaches 63 somoni (6,7 USD).
Recent years, the Tajik authorities have tightened control over social networks and instant messengers. So, in November 2018, the inhabitants of the country were left without YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Odnoklassniki, Viber, WhatsApp and Telegram. The lock was connected with the rally of residents of Khorog, the administrative centre of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous oblast (GBAO).
