Indonesian Mikhail Gorbachev Home, run for Parliament, lost the elections. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“My party [Solidarity Party of Indonesia], according to preliminary unofficial data, has not passed the four percent barrier. We scored only two percent of the vote,” said Gorbachev. The politician stressed that despite the results, he does not despair and is going to try the forces on elections in 2024.
Gorbachev also stated that he plans to go to the capital of Russia. “Jakarta has a lot to learn from Moscow, especially in the field of electronic government and other fields of modern urban economy,” added the Indonesian.
The politician got his name a week after birth, when the parents noticed a newspaper article about Mikhail Gorbachev. His father loved the name an influential person and leader of the country, so the son decided to call it so.
Gorbachev was among 245 thousand candidates for the General elections in Indonesia on April 17. This is the first in the history of the country vote, which was simultaneously elected President, Vice President, deputies of the national Parliament and local legislators. The official results will be announced may 22.
