The centre for the protection of the rights and interests of children, which is administered by the Ministry of education has developed a program for the prevention of suicide among students ahead of the exam. This is reported by “Izvestia”.
The program envisages holding meetings at which a psychologist will tell parents how to recognize the child’s suicidal ideations. According to experts, parents should be wary if a teen talks about death, negative view of their future and is in a depressed state.
Psychologists believe that during the period of exams high school students tend to think about suicide, because they have an increased load. High requirements for exams can lead to stress and depression with which the student is difficult to handle. The program noted that suicidal ideations can occur because of unrequited love, problems in communication with peers or threat of Internet resources.
According to the Unified interdepartmental information system in may is the maximum number of suicides, however adults are more likely to commit suicide than teenagers. Experts believe that talking about suicide on the eve of the exam will hurt students, because it will reduce their confidence.
