In China experienced a likely prototype of a reusable hypersonic missile, writes Popular Mechanics.

American journal drew attention to the publication of the Chinese website qq.com owned by investment holding company Tencent, which refers to the joint development of the Aerospace Academy of Xiamen University and Beijing Lingkong Tianxing Technology, called Jia Geng No. 1.

During tests held in the North-West of China, the missile rose to a height of 27.4 kilometer, after which one of its steps successfully landed.

Engineers created the reusable rocket is a length of 8.7 meters, a width of 2.5 meters and a weight of 3.7 tons. In Popular Mechanics noted that the missile has the appearance of a typical device with a ramjet engine and therefore resembles American project to develop hypersonic weapons HAWC (Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapons Concept).

According to the American magazine, due to the fact that Jia Geng number 1 created by civilians, it is unlikely that this missile has a top speed far greater than the five Mach numbers.

In February, the source said that by the end of the final test start, the state Commission recommended to adopt hypersonic missile complex “Avangard”.

In December 2018, the us television channel CNBC reported that from 2015, Russia has conducted five successful flight tests of hypersonic anti-ship cruise missiles “Zircon”.
