In the Autonomous region of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province, China, the elephant ran out of the national Park and attacked a tourist. This publication reports The Star.
According to representatives of local police, the family of five, parents with daughter and grandparents, going to the Park, Wild Elephant Valley, but along the way they stopped to visit the toilet.
Unexpectedly among the trees there was an elephant. He noticed the grandmother and the grandfather left in the car. They shouted to warn the other members of the family. The elephant attacked the mother of the girl, knocked her down and repeatedly stepped on it. The father managed to grab the daughter and put her in the car.
In the attack the woman was taken to hospital with fractures of three ribs and my left leg. At the moment she is in stable condition, her health is not in danger. The rest of the family was not injured.
According to Shen Zingana (Shen Qingzhong), an expert on elephants in a national Park Wild Elephant Valley, the animals have recently become more aggressive due to the drought. It has resulted in a shortage of food, so the elephants become harder to get food.
In the tropical forests of Yunnan province there are about 300 Asian elephants, 120 of which live in the reserve.
