Russia is preparing to impose a ban on disposable plastic utensils. This was stated by the Minister of natural resources Dmitry Kobylkin, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, the Agency supports the reduction of environmental damage due to pollution. “We support the global trend for reducing the use of plastic,” explained Kobylkin, adding that Russia is going to do so.
Large network support the initiative to limit the use of plastic, he said. However, this requires time to “realize and accept”.
In April it was reported that the majority of Russians expressed their willingness to abandon the disposable plastic tableware. About 71 percent of Russian respondents admitted that are ready to give up disposable plastic tableware, even if it does not be a ban.
At the end of March it became known that Europe will completely abandon disposable plastic items 2021. Also, the EU by 2029 should ensure 90% collection of used plastic bottles. By 2025, the plastic bottles will have not less than 25% consist of recycled plastic.
