The US President Donald trump and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin had reached an understanding on the issue of the crisis in Venezuela that looks suspicious. This is stated in an editorial The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), entitled “Russian conspiracy in Venezuela.”

“A very positive conversation with Vladimir Putin, perhaps about an hour. We talked about many things, including Venezuela,” — said trump. He noted that Moscow does not want to interfere in the Affairs of Latin American countries, and only wants positive change — as the leader of the United States.

According to the editorial, WSJ, trump does not understand what Putin has in mind in speaking about what is good for Venezuela. In addition, highlights the differences between the position of the U.S. President and members of his administration.

The WSJ also notes that the Minister for foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov called Venezuela a long-standing Russian partner, and the recent events in the country — a cynical campaign aimed at overthrowing the legal and legitimate government. This characterization of the protests are not the same, even with the evaluations of the trump.

On 30 April the leader of the Venezuelan opposition Juan Guido urged soldiers and the people of the country to overthrow the President. The politician said that the army took his side, and called the events “the final phase of “operation Freedom””. The next day, the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro announced his victory over the enemy.

The situation in Venezuela escalated on 23 January, when Guido amid mass protests declared himself interim President. Its legitimacy is recognized by the US, several countries in Latin America and Europe. Russia has supported Maduro.
