A dead man won election to the U.S. city of Maypearl Texas. About it reports The Independent.
71-year-old deceased Victor Philip Veltman was able to win the election, receiving 68 out of 110 votes. Total population according to 2010 is 934 people.
It is noted that Veltman was born in Indiana, then lived in Dallas Texas, and in 1990 moved to Maypearl. It is also known that he worked as a teacher for 12 years after graduation, and then 30 years to build a career in the company of soft drink manufacturer Dr Pepper.
The discussion of the candidacy of the real next mayor will be held at city Council on may 13. City officials will consult with the authorities of Texas on the next steps in this unprecedented situation.
This is not the first case in the United States when the election goes dead. In November 2018, it was reported that the deceased owner of brothels in Nevada won the local elections in the state legislature.
