The US President Donald trump said that he doesn’t want to call Russia an enemy. His words Thursday, may 9, reports TASS.
The head of state talked about the policy of Germany, criticized Berlin for its reluctance to increase military spending to two percent of GDP, in accordance with existing NATO commitments. According to him, Germany monthly pays Russia billions of dollars for the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”.
“As expected, we need to protect Germany from Russia. And it turns out that Germany gives [money] to so-called enemy,” said trump, adding that he didn’t want to name Moscow the enemy.
He admitted that he wants to improve relations with Moscow and with Beijing. “Only stupid people don’t want to get along”, concluded the American leader.
May 8, U.S. Secretary of state Michael Pompeo said that the US should not allow the completion of the “Nord stream-2”. In his opinion, the project policy will put Europe dependent on Moscow.
“Nord stream-2” gas pipeline project from Russia to Germany, which lay at the bottom of the Baltic sea. It will pass through the territorial waters or exclusive economic zones of Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
