Advisor of the elected President of Ukraine on questions of defence Ivan Apartin said that Vladimir Zelensky will continue to adhere to the policy of war with Russia. About it the adviser said on the air of “Gromadska”.
“We do not change course on Ukraine’s accession to NATO, but we have not discussed terms. We do not change course toward war with Russia, it’s war,” — said the politician.
Apartin explained that he was not able to discuss all aspects of the defense strategy during a personal meeting with Zelensky, however, a number of questions position uniform and no doubt. In addition to joining NATO and war with Russia adviser and the President discussed the strengthening of the army reserve forces, creation of modern system of territorial defense and the fight against corruption in the army.
May 2 Apartin said that Kiev could return the Donbass in five years. The adviser noted that the return of the Crimea — more distant prospect. He also warned Zelensky from a visit to Moscow and talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Relations between Moscow and Kiev escalated after the annexation of Crimea to Russia in March 2014. Kiev says Moscow is responsible for the conflict in the South-East of the country and regularly accuses it of supplying weapons self-proclaimed republics of Donbass, which calls the Russian occupation authorities. Russia has repeatedly denied such accusations.
