Convicted in the United States the Russian Maria Butina the second time in a few days was transferred to another prison. This is with reference to her lawyer Robert Driscoll reports RIA Novosti.
“She left [the prison] Northern Neck today. We’ll see where it will be”, — quotes Agency the words of Driscoll. The lawyer also said that his client should be transferred to Federal prison, Northern Neck was originally a temporary place of detention.
11 may it became known that Butino transferred to the prison of the Northern Neck in the town of Warsaw in Virginia from prison in Alexandria.
Maria Butina, the Creator of the movement “Right to arms”, was arrested in the US on 15 July 2018. She was accused of trying to influence the main sponsors of the Republican party to advance the interests of Russia. In December of the same year, Butina partially pleaded guilty to conspiring to conduct activities in a foreign state and confirmed that it tried to establish informal contacts with citizens of the United States, including through National rifle Association.
In April 2019, the Russian woman was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment for “conspiracy to commit illegal work for the government of Russia.” By the time she’s served in custody nine months. At the hearing, Butina said he wanted to improve Russian-American relations, and in tears asked me to give her a chance “to return home and start a new life.”
The Russian will be released on 5 November, and then will be deported from the United States.
