U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo has cancelled a visit to Moscow in the framework of the working visit to Russia. This became known to Reuters.
The meeting of the head of the Department of state with Russian President Vladimir Putin and foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Sochi on Thursday, may 14, remained in force, the Agency clarified.
It is noted that Pompeo made this decision because of the need to hold talks in Brussels on Iran and other issues before the trip to Russia.
The anonymous source added that US state Secretary will discuss with Putin and Lavrov “aggressive and destabilizing actions undertaken by Moscow around the world”.
Pompeo first visit to Russia as Secretary of state. A position he has held since April of 2018.
12 may it was reported that Pompeo had planned to discuss the issues on which the countries could cooperate. He stressed that the U.S. and Russia could work together in areas of Syria, Afghanistan and Venezuela.
