Russian students die in physical education classes due to the lack of medical personnel able to provide first aid. About it in interview to TV channel “Zvezda” said the chief pediatric cardiologist of the Federal medical-biological Agency, head of Center for syncope and cardiac arrhythmias in children and adolescents Leonid Makarov.
According to him, in Russia the number of heart attacks among schoolchildren a year is not much higher than the statistics of many civilized countries, but in the West almost half of children with cardiac arrest can be saved. So, in the world recorded an average of 1.1 cases of a cardiac arrest at school for 100 thousand students. In Russia 1.4 case of cardiac arrest students death, said Makarov.
Pediatric cardiologist emphasized that in Russia there are problems with the system of first aid in schools. According to him, the school nurse will not be able to render first aid in case of cardiac arrest because schools lack the necessary equipment. He added that in the case of prompt medical treatment of many childhood deaths from cardiac arrest in Russia could be avoided.
“We have a lame Federal law on first aid. And even the doctor came out and took the robe, no longer has the right to medical assistance. Such a paradox. This 323-law, who did not once go here and there in the state Duma”, — said Makarov.
According to the channel, the state Duma plans to return to the Russian educational institutions doctor’s offices and begin to allow the children to physical education classes only after the conclusion of the doctor.
