Chief economist of the European Bank for reconstruction and development Sergei Guriev suggested that the Russian billionaires giving to charity. He declared it in interview to the project “Russian rules!” in YouTube.
According to him, many billionaires say about the willingness to donate half of his fortune after his death. “Maybe it needs to be done faster in life to donate a large part of his fortune on pensions, on education,” he said. Guriev suggested that this can help to reduce the degree of hostility in society to the rich.
As an example, the economist cited Korea and Turkey, where the oligarchs sacrificed state universities. “Such measures will certainly contribute to the popularity of the richest people”, — he said.
1 April it became known that the combined wealth of the richest Russians for the first quarter of 2019 increased by 20.5 billion dollars. In the list of 500 richest people in the world included 23 Russians.
