The main task of the elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in 2019-2020 would be to pay the huge debts of Ukraine. This statement was made by European Commissioner for enlargement Johannes Hahn, reports TASS.
“In those years the country will have to repay the debt exceeding 30 percent of the annual budget,” the official said. He noted that this is a difficult situation and people should focus on this issue. Khan also highlighted the expiry of the contract for the supply of Russian gas. It is valid until the end of 2019.
Earlier in may it was reported that the ratio of government debt of Ukraine to GDP declined to 59 percent in the first quarter of 2019.
In April, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman said that from 2016, the amount of debt was steadily decreased and reached a safe border. By year-end, its share will be reduced to half of the state GDP, over the next two years to 41.4%.
