British newspaper Independent has recognized the costumes of the Russian and Ukrainian singers most bizarre in the history of the musical contest “Eurovision”.

Journalists remembered the dress of Andrei Danilko, who performed under the female pseudonym of Verka Serduchka in 2007. Then Danilko appeared on the stage in a sparkling silver coat with belt and massive headdress in the shape of a star. The competition Verka Serduchka represented Ukraine with the song Dancing Lasha Tumbai and took second place.

The publication also drew attention to the contestants from Russia — group “Buranovskie babushki” from the village of Buranovo Malopurginskoe region of Udmurtia. In 2012, women participated in “Eurovision” in red tunics with folk Udmurt pattern and also took second place.

In 2019, the contest “Eurovision” will be held from 14 to 18 may in tel Aviv. Russia will be represented by Sergey Lazarev with the song Scream. The finals will be broadcast worldwide on may 18.

Earlier in may, the singer Sergey Lazarev has told in interview to the program “Evening Urgant” on the First channel about the new rule that was introduced by the organizers of “Eurovision”: the contestants now have to donate blood before the start of the competition.
