The U.S. Department of justice is considering a request to return to Russia convicted in the United States, Konstantin Yaroshenko. This was announced by Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov. according to RIA Novosti.
As pointed out by Antonov, may 6, the Russian Ministry of justice sent the statement, referring to the Council of Europe Convention on the transfer of sentenced persons of 1983. “Required to give priority to this case, given the humanitarian component, a state of health and already served the term of imprisonment”, — said in the letter the Ambassador addressed to Yaroshenko.
The fact that the Russian Department is going to contact us with this request, it became known in March of this year. This is the fourth time trying to Yaroshenko’s return to Russia.
Konstantin Yaroshenko was convicted in 2011 for participating in a conspiracy to smuggle drugs. In the United States, he was taken from Liberia, where he was arrested on may 28, 2010. Worked under cover agents of the Federal administration in the United States to combat drug trafficking allegedly caught the Russians in a criminal intent on the transportation of large quantities of cocaine.
Protection Yaroshenko indicates the inhumane attitude and the deterioration of his health.
