The Kremlin responded to the protests in Yekaterinburg

The Kremlin watching the protests due to the construction of the Church of St. Catherine in the center of Yekaterinburg, said press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. His words leads TASS on Tuesday, may 14.

“We see media reports on this account and become familiar with these messages,” he said.

Peskov said he did not know the details of what happened, so not ready to rate the actions of local authorities to resolve the situation.

Yesterday in Ekaterinburg there has passed spontaneous protest. The protesters demanded to keep the square at the drama Theatre, the site of which want to build the Cathedral of St. Catherine for the 300th anniversary of the city in 2023. According to various estimates, the number of protesters ranged from a few hundred to two thousand people.

On Tuesday, the Governor of Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev invited parties to enter the conversation. Discussion it is suggested to organize in his office. The head of the region stressed that the conflicts will solve nothing.
